Rick Garcia recognized by the National Hispanic Media Coalition with Award
The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) honors local media professionals for their contribution to the media. In 2008, Rick Garcia was recognized for his achievements in Broadcast Journalism. The NHMC award is given to those who are recognized by the Coalition for “outstanding achievements and contributions to the region’s Latino community.” In 2017, Rick Garcia, the Emmy award winning anchor for CBS 2 emceed the NHMC’s awards presentation and luncheon. Rick Garcia Recipient of the Striving for Excellence Award
Rick Garcia received the Striving for Excellence Award from the Minorities in Broadcasting Training Program in 2002. The aim of the award is to honor those individuals “at the top of their profession who continue to set the standards for excellence in broadcast journalism and in the field of entertainment.” The organization works in conjunction with both the National Association of Broadcasting (NAB) and Radio & Television News Directors’ Association (RTNDA). In 2015, while working with CBS and together with Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson, Rick Garcia presented the awards to Ralph Farquhar producer of Disney Channel’s ‘The Proud Family.’

Seeking out individuals who have portrayed “outstanding journalism” , RTDNA Executive Director Dan Shelley explained: “These honorees truly represent the very best in broadcast and digital journalism around the world”.
